Project Summary

Phase One of this study examines self-management in early-stage dementia, identifies a pragmatic definition and model, and develops a self-management group for PwD. In Phase Two the self-management group will be implemented and its efficacy and cost-effectiveness evaluated in a pilot randomised controlled trial, conducted within an NHS memory service. The findings from Phase Two will provide the information needed to design a definitive multi-centre trial, and allow us to develop a handbook for other memory services.
