Poster award for CHEME at International Society for Pharmaco Economic and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) conference

Members of the pharmacoeconomics and medicines evaluation section of the Centre for Health Economics and Medicines Evaluation (CHEME) attended the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) Annual European Congress at Glasgow on the 6th-8th November. The congress was attended by nearly 5,000 delegates from all over the world. CHEME members gave ten research presentations, including a poster by Dr Colin Ridyard on insulin treatment for children newly-diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, which won the best general poster award.

Selected from nearly 2,200 posters presented at the conference, it referred to a cost effectiveness analysis undertaken with Professor Dyfrig Hughes which compared infused and injected insulin. The research was funded by the National Institute for Health Research Health Technology Assessment.

CHEME is part of the Bangor Institute of Health and Medical Research (BIMHR) in the School of Healthcare Sciences and Prof. Chris Burton, Head of School said “The fact that the CHEME poster submission was ranked in the top 3 of over 2000 posters is indicative of the research quality within BIHMR.”
